ACQUIRE as NEEDED (daily)

Happy Lord's Day!

NFL Sundays are a trip! My goal is always to allow the games to fill in the crevices around my family obligations. As any of you who are parents know, these obligations will change from Sunday to Sunday. If your family is anything like mine, your routines go out the window on the weekends and the thrill of the risk that anything could go off the rails at any moment is a substantial rush.

My little one has been sick this weekend just like the Titans and Patriots evidently have been sick and maybe the back-up quarterback for the Chiefs, too. The Steelers have apparently received the raw end of this situation, as they all have reportedly continued to test negative for the 'rona. Four teams sat out of play this weekend as the NFL now must arrange a rescheduling of two games. There is substantial concern that, under current protocol, the season may be in jeopardy, so there is substantial suspicion that the League will make some changes. The schedule and protocol, as we know it, is likely fleeting.

I played a version of softball with my daughters while the Eagles looked to take advantage of Niners' injuries and my son rode his bike up and down the street, loudly interacting with nobody visible. I lightly bounced the ball in Montgomery's direction and she would attempt to hit it in the direction it rolled, while Mayfare played catcher, retrieving the ball after Montgomery inevitably missed it or poked it toward her. After a few swings, Montgomery would tire and ask me to swap with her. She would then switch places with me and Mayfare would go all the way around us to field the ball. Monty rolled the ball in my general area (most of the time) and I would chase it down and bat it on the ground toward her. She would always let it go for Mayfare to get, who would then roll the ball to Monty again for pitching. We did this over and over, in the street, often pausing for cars. I imagine the frivolity of our exercise must have paralleled the Sunday Night Football game, as two very injured teams played a somewhat amateur brand of football.

My Colts beat the Bears, advancing to 3 - 1. The L.A. Rams beat the Giants, which is significant because Rams was my Survivor pick. Still alive! I watched NFL instead of the NBA Finals Game 3 because I wagered on the Eagles +8.5 and I figured Lebrons would win again with Bam and Goran sitting out, but the Heat won on the back of Jimmy Butler's record setting performance. He triple doubled and outscored, out- assisted and out- rebounded Lebron James, something no one had ever done in a postseason game in which James played. Sergio Garcia won the Sanderson Farms Open and Denny Hamlin won at Talladega.

The dishes are undone and the shelf isn't yet hung in the hall, by the laundry room, but we made it to part of service in the parking lot so I could play guitar with the band. We played and cleaned the porch and set up this odd looking transparent tent in the yard, so that's good. We watched football and Finding Nemo and mom napped after a full day of work. I walked my dogs, the one with balls keeps barking at more things than not, and put my children to bed nearly passing out while snuggling with the little one. Maybe life's a little like golf: not every day is a major, but you know you're gonna get a certain number of them each season.
