This is my radio show that I do with the bride, representing those indifferent about sports, in which I address four sports stories that I think will grab her interest. I’ll be prepping for that tonight.
PGA, MLB, NHL, NBA, CFB, WTA and ATP all had action today and tonight I was watching Keira Knightly and Parminder Nagra kick a soccer ball around on TV with my older kids while the bride and the little one watched How To Train A Dragon for the 1,156th time.
I listened to the beginning of the Lightning’s defeat of the Stars in the Stanley Cup Final while I was driving home. I got a little extra time when I got the text to pick up Applebee’s on the way home, then dinner and Bend It Like Beckham. Meanwhile, the Celtics staved off elimination by beating the Heat 121 - 108. My Yankees lost to the Marlins in extra innings (10) in a meaningless game in which both parties have already clinched a spot in the postseason. The Houston Asstros clinched a playoff spot tonight when the Dodgers beat the Angels, eliminating its neighboring Anaheim team. In the National League, the Reds and Padres secured playoff spots tonight, with Giants, Phillies, Cardinals and Mets still battling for the last two postseason pieces. This Sunday ends the 60 game, covid-informed regular season, so the weekend’s games will determine the spot-fillers.
Humourly, the PGA tourney this week is at a place in the Dominican Republic called Punta Cana. It sounds funny to me. Some dude named Swafford has the lead going into moving day tomorrow. He’s posted 12 under par in the first two days. That’s pretty respectable. My guy, Luke List is two strokes back at -10, so I’m rooting for him. Let’s go, Luke!
As my younger two take part in something here at bake’s place we call Special Night, the dogs begin to wind down and the young one awaits my trek to the bedroom. The youngest daughter is sleeping in a play tent made to look like an ice cream shoppe which she calls her dog house. Her brother is elated to sleep in her bed, and surprisingly, he helped calm her down tonight. This is bakeshere.com
