ACQUIRE as NEEDED (daily) December 27 Happy Lord's Day! As I begin today's column, Anthony Edwards has allowed the Los Angeles LeBrons a 30 point lead over his Timberwolves in the end of the 3rd quarter. It would appear that this one's in the bag, but still a quarter to go. Earlier in the day, the Kawhis channeled the early 2000s Clippers in a 124 - 73 loss to the Mavs of Dallas. It's pertinent to mention that Kawhi didn't play because of a cut in his mouth that required stitches, giving new meaning to the phrase, "Zip it!" It was the first of the ten game slate. Hornets, Pelicans, Cavs, Knicks, Pacers and likely, Lakers, will have all won at home today. Mavericks, Magic, Warriors and Suns are road winners. Because of the implications of this week's NFL games, I watched only the last quarter of this Minnesota game, after Sunday Night Football and my dog walk. Regarding the NFL, my Colts lost to the Steelers, but because that allowed Pittsburgh to clinch their division and Tennessee also lost, Indy's chances to make the playoffs went up today. Steelers 28 - 24 Colts. Packers 40 - 14 Titans. The AFC South is still up for grabs. The Browns apparently need their starting receivers to win. With their top four WR out for covid contact tracing protocol, the Browns offered the 1-13 Jets its second victory. This unexpected loss keeps Cleveland tied with Indy and Tennessee in the Wild Card race. America's Team played with unforeseen life, decimating its division rival Eagles 37 - 17 putting itself in a position to win the dreadful NFC East. This afternoon I watched the Seahawks power past the Rams' defense to get a 20 - 9 win and clinch the division. The oft-maligned Seattle defense held the Rams scoreless in the 3rd and without a touchdown all game. Matt Gay, however, was a perfect 3/3 and scored all of L.A.'s points. Here at bake's place, we hosted another matchup against my eldest's trauma informed life perspective. I found myself repeating the counsel I've given countless times to countless people: Keep short accounts. We all fuck up. We all act out. We all say unkind things. We all do unkind things. We all hurt others. So… How quickly can I admit my mistakes and get right? We must seek reconciliation. We must make amends. We must keep short accounts. It's how sports dynasties are born and maintained. It's how real relationships are born and maintained. Success is unbelievably achieved through humility. This is bakesHere.
