2021-0508. Saturday. 1008 PM. Rangers won the last game of their season, beating Boston 5-4. They accrued enough points to be fifth in the division, just missing the playoffs. Artemi "Bread Man" Panarin, arguably their best forward, had been injured in the caffuffle with the Caps a week ago. I don't know that if he'd played it would have mattered much. They just hadn't banked enough points early on and had a lot of catching up. Sometimes, you just run out of real estate...
Photo credit: NHL.com To celebrate Mother's Day with the bride's mom, we traveled north to spend a few hours with my in-laws. This endeavor usually involves both vehicles in order to accommodate the children and the dogs. The kids and bride leave early and return late to maximize grandma - grandchildren time, and I leave later and return earlier to minimize the feces on our floors. All this to say, I was relegated to listening to Yankees baseball over watching due to a weather delay. After two and a half hours, the Yankees hosted the Nationals for the second of a 3-game series. Eleven innings later, the Yankees won, 4 - 3.
Photo credit: MLB.com On my drive home, I listened to the bulk of the preliminary and main cards of the UFC event this week. I arrived home in time to watch the last two fights: both entertaining in their own right. After last week's injuries, I'm happy to say no one broke their leg tonight! The main event, five rounds that went the distance, between the Karate Hottie, Michelle Waterson and Marina Rodriguez (which all three commentators pronounced Hodriguez all night, amusing me muchly), was fantastic. Rodriguez deservedly won the unanimous decision by aggressively putting together many more combinations than Michelle. It was a good card, headlined by a great main event!

I pondered the equality of the ladies getting the same fanfare and promotion as the men for this main event. I assume the pay is equal, though I've not investigated it. I'm not inclined to concern myself with the financial arrangements of others. I've written before about Jesus' parable of the hired workers. It's Matthew 20, if you want to check it out. I know money is necessary, but I'm not convinced it's important. Let's say I'm practicing keeping it low on the list of where my attention is. May we keep the main things the main things.
