Rookie Christopher Bell (or maybe second year guy) wins the O'reilly Auto Parts 253 at Daytona today, beating out veteran driver for Team Penske, Joey Logano. He was able to overcome a few minor setbacks throughout the race and with some impressive driving along with newer tires, he passed Logano with a few turns to go and never looked back. At first meeting, you'd think Bell would be more likely to take your order at the local burger joint. The kid looks young, but behind the wheel of a car with 750 horsepower, he's more comfortable than your average fast food worker.
NASCAR is a league with three professional series. Trucks, Xfinity and the NASCAR Cup. Each week, they race all three series at the same track. Typically, trucks on Friday, Xfinity Series (NASCAR's minors) on Saturdays and the big leaguers on Sundays. Our home is a Sunday NFL and NASCAR house, so this time of year, we watch racing. Whether they turn left and right, like today's road course, or just turn left like most oval courses, my family and I enjoy watching the cars go fast and crash and cut each other off and drag and pit and all the exciting things that can happen over the course of a three hour race.
Racing is a lot of the same thing, over and over again. The course stays the same, lap after lap, yet conditions may change with unforeseen regularity. You know what to expect and you have to be ready for the unexpected. A little debris here, slightly lower tire pressure there, an unexpected engine temperature change and your race plan can get dashed quickly. It's like our living of life in that way. The sun rises and sets, our routines almost run themselves and yet, we must be prepared for the unexpected. Christopher Bell drove his race wisely, keeping his machine clear of any major damage. In the end, that's likely one of the best strategies. You can't win if your car's crashed. So, live life, thrive in your routines and keep your equipment damage free! This is bakesHere.
