Twas the Work Day...

ACQUIRE as NEEDED (daily) December 23 Wednesday before Christmas! Christmas Eve Eve… 'Twas the work day before Christmas and all through the shop,

No technician was working, not even running a mop.

The air hoses were coiled by the lifts with such care,

Because we all knew there's no way that cars would be there.

The OPEN light gleamed toward the busiest street

As drivers ignored, going on with their beat.

The waste oil heater and a few radios 'round

Were drowning the silence with their soft, lucid sound.

My tools were all cleaned, in their drawers, nice and neat

My butt, in clean work pants, perched still in my seat

The boss, from his office, called me, in my mask

To park the last car, our finishing task

When what to my wondering eyes would appear,

But the assistant, carrying a six pack of beer.

He threw me an opener with the flick of his wrist

And said, Merry Christmas, as he knuckled my fist.

"It's beer-thirty." he chuckled. "Hell yeah!" I replied.

Then he handed me Anheiser Busch's famed pride.

I flipped off the cap and handed him the tool,

And if you think we didn't drink on the clock, you're a fool.
